This Week’s Indivisible Updates from Jolie Will

Greetings!
For starters, there are a couple of legislative actions you can take.  There is a sense of urgency due to impending actions of both the Federal and State legislatures.  The first has to do with contacting your US Senators as they will likely be voting next week on the SAVE Act, which passed the US House in 2025.  (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility)  Among other things, this act requires in person documentary proof of American citizenship to register to vote in federal elections and could exclude millions of eligible Americans from voting, because they lack the necessary paperwork.  Encourage our senators to oppose this bill:

Maria Cantwell (D-WA)  202-224-3441
Patty Murray (D-WA)  202-224-2621

There are several important bills coming up in our Washington legislature.  They are too numerous for me to copy into this newsletter.  The best way to view them and take appropropriate action is to follow the link to the Washington League of Women Voters:

      www.lwvwa.org
Once you enter the LWV site, scroll down to the section, “Take Action to Protect Democracy”.  You will find a section representing our Washington Legislature upcoming bills, along with a way to submit your preference.  Our voices deserve to be heard and our elected leaders truly want to hear from us!

We have the power. And we are claiming it together. No thrones. No crowns. No kings. A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.

The purpose of these emails is to share information about actions and events accessible to us here in Sequim and Port Angeles.  Your questions and comments are always welcome.  Please let me know if you no longer wish to receive these emails.

We are all in this together!
