Music and Choir
Choir Director – Joel Yelland
Joel Yelland has been our choir director since 2010, when he moved here to care for his mother who was a member of our congregation. He has been singing since grade school, studied voice at Central Washington University and has joined the musical communities in his many hometowns during medical training and service in the Navy.
As a practicing physician he has the opportunity and incentive to study voice more intensively, and the many musical offerings in this area enable him to perform with such excellent groups as the Peninsula Singers and Readers Theater Plus. He also gives recitals of many musical genres and has appeared in musicals at Olympic Theater Arts. On his off time he picked up percussion and plays with the PA Symphony, the Sequim City Band and the Sequim Community Orchestra. This is his first time conducting a choir and he is proud of the enthusiasm and musicianship of our singers, who for the most part do not have formal training in music.
Musical Director – LeRoy Davidson
LeRoy comes to us from San Diego, California. He began playing piano at a very early age, then branched out to include electronic organs and digital keyboards.
During his colorful career, he has provided live music for the shows at San Diego’s Sea World, and background music for CBS-TV daytime dramas in New York. He was also a touring artist for the Hammond Organ Company.
Teaching organ, piano, and keyboard has been a major point in his career. Having studied with world famous concert organist Mildred Alexander, he uses her method of organ mastery. He also teaches a course called “Fake It Till You Make It”, for all keyboards.
LeRoy provided music exclusively for the Center for Spiritual Living in San Diego for many years and now brings his own brand of inspired musicianship to OUUF.
