Restoring Riparian habitat along the Dungeness is a high priority for the North Olympic Salmon Coalition and OUUF showed up along with dozens of other community volunteers to make it happen. Planting Oso and Snow berries, firs and more along the Dungeness was not for the faint of heart but six of our members were there, slogging through muck, digging holes with picks in soil full of ‘Sequim potatoes,’ under a gray winter sky. It is important work. It is restorative, planet-healing holy work and there is more to come later in the year.
There are many ways to support our Action Plan #12, commitment to work with marginalized people, in this case, the local tribes who are major participants in this work. Restoring habitat is just one. We will keep you abreast of other opportunities and encourage all of us to find ways to be part of climate-healing action.
